A list of which items to bring

As you plan your arrival to Georgia Tech we ask that you limit the items you bring to essentials only. Be mindful and minimal as you pack your belongings to make your move-in experience as smooth as possible. By doing so, you help us encourage the safety of our volunteers and your fellow residents.

Visit the Move-In Items to Bring webpage for information on recommended and prohibited items.

A list of tips for move-in day.

We know moving a student into their room is a big step. Additionally, the move-in process this year will be different from anything you've seen before as we work to maintain the safety of our community.

Visit the Move-In Tips webpage for more information on how to make this monumental move a smooth one.

Transitioning to Your Summer Housing

If you currently live on campus and plan to transition to a Summer Housing Assignment, please follow the procedures outlined below.

By May 6, all students currently living in an apartment must complete the following:

  • All items must be removed from the common areas and stored only in the assigned bedroom when not being used.
  • Exceptions can be made for refrigerator and freezer items, which may be stored in a single clear plastic container - one for the refrigerator and one for the freezer. These are NOT provided, and if you choose to keep items in the refrigerator or freezer, you are be responsible for getting your own containers.
  • Any items left unattended in the common area, including the bathroom, during this timeframe may be discarded if and when our team comes to clean the unit.
  • Even students who are staying in their same apartment for summer are required to follow the steps above.

Students currently living in a traditional room should:

  • Pack-up the majority of your belongings by May 9th in preparation for your transition on Friday, May 13.
  • Follow the checkout instructions provided by your Hall Director and RA.

Transition Day is May 13:

  • Failure to vacate in a timely manner or fully complete your room transition by 5pm on Friday, May 13 can result in an improper checkout fine of $150/ day plus storage costs.  Refer to the contract amendment in your Summer 2022 Housing Application for more information.
